Removing jammed paper from a printer can actually damage the machine. Here are a few tips for the next time you get a jam:

• First, gently pull the jammed paper out in the printer's natural paper path direction.Ripping the paper out against the natural path may cause certain sensors to pop out of place, or even break a gear.
• If the jam occurred before the toner was fused to the paper, you may have loose toner in the bed of the printer that could cause "dirty" prints. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the printer bed clean.
• If you are unable to clear the jam, or experience problems printing after the jam, you may need to call a repair company.
