| trà. like japan and china, vietnam has also developed her own long-standing tea tradition. unique to the vietnamese tradition is lotus tea or trà sen. it was emperor tu duc of the nguyen dynasty who first drank trà sen. each afternoon, the emperor's servants would row to the lotus grove in the lake of the royal garden. there, the servants would place a small handful of fresh tea leaves into each lotus flower then gingerly bind the petals together. overnight, the tea leaves absorbed the flavor and scent of the lotus blossom. in the morning, the tea would be collected from the lotus blossoms and brewed for the emperor. | |
