Happy November! Winter weather is setting in, which means it's time to get knitting -- scarves, socks, sweaters, hats, mittens -- whatever you need to keep warm! November is also generally considered the official start of the holiday season, so if you haven't started making those gifts yet, now is the time to start! Scarves are hot gifts this year -- check out more scarf scoop in our new section, "Spotlight On ...". This new feature is exclusively for our e-mail newsletter subscribers! Each month, we'll spotlight a new trend, yarn, pattern, etc. in the newsletter and offer a special discount on certain products - but only for readers of the newsletter!

Please feel free to email us to let us know what you think, and any changes you'd like to see. To view this email newsletter online, please visit our website at http://www.technicolorsheep.com/enewsletter/november.htm.

Hi Everyone! Knitting is a great hobby for so many reasons, but one of the best is that it's so portable -- you can take it with you wherever you go. At this time of year, we all start a mad dash toward the finish line of New Year's Eve as we frantically buy gifts, go visiting, cook, clean, and generally work ourselves into a frenzy. I know in all the craziness that accompanies the holidays, I tend to sometimes forget what's really important, but that's where my knitting comes in handy. By taking just a few moments wherever I am -- at the mall, visiting relatives, in a waiting room -- to stop and knit a few rows, I can clear my head and relax while still being productive. Then I'm ready to get back on the race track, but with my priorities straight and my energy focused. They don't call knitting the new yoga for nothing!

I wish you and your families a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.

Scarves!

Scarves have been around for years -- centuries actually. They date back to the sixteenth century when they were worn by men as a sash to carry small items. Five centuries later, scarves are hot, hot, hot for women and men! They've been featured in the fall lines of many top fashion designers and the inevitable knock-offs are populating your local department stores, from short pull-through scarves, to extra-long city-chic scarves, to lacy glitzy dress scarves.

Of course, you can have a high-fashion scarf for a fraction of what all the non-knitters out there will pay! Whether you knit a scarf from thick bulky yarn, fun nubby yarn, lacy eyelash yarn, beautiful multi-colored hand-dyed yarn, or just plain wool, you can not only have a great winter fashion accessory for you, but gifts for everyone you know as well!

To help get you started, we're offering a special deal for e-newsletter subscribers only. Bring in a copy of this newsletter before November 30 and receive 20% off the total cost of materials you buy to make a scarf. (For example, if you buy 4 balls of yarn for $6 each, and a pattern for $4, you'll save $5.60 - that's like getting a ball of yarn for free!)

Holiday Open House

The Technicolor Sheep will be hosting our Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 7. Come for refreshments, special sales, give-aways and more! Look for your invitation with more info in the mail later this month.

In order to make The Technicolor Sheep your ultimate yarn store, we need your input! Email us and let us know your thoughts on the following questions.

Morning or Evening?

Currently, The Technicolor Sheep is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. We are thinking about modifying our hours in 2003. Which of the following would you prefer?

  1. We open at noon and close at 9 p.m. 2-3 days a week
  2. We open every day at 11 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
  3. We keep our existing hours but close one additional day a week.
  4. We keep everything the way it is now and don't change anything.

Based on your answers, we'll make a final decision and announce our new hours (if they change) in the December mailed newsletter. Thanks for your help!
