| If you haven't done it already, it's a good idea to install some of those motion activated floodlights in place of the ones you already have. They don't cost much, and they are available at any hardware store. Be sure they have the sun-sensing feature that disables them in daylight. If somebody strolls up to your house at night, some bright floodlights flicking on suddenly can be quite intimidating. They can't be sure whether or not somebody saw them or heard them from inside and turned on the lights. These lights will help make it look like you are still at home. (They help keep the deer away from munching on the plantings, too.)
DO NOT LET the inside of your house be all dark every night. Get some internal lights set up on timers. Try to find the timers that have a "semi-random" turn-on and turn-off feature so the lights won't come on and go off at exactly the same time every evening. Make it look like you are still at home.
