An Overview of our Clinical Staff
Dr. Douglas W. Hershey is the founder and medical director of Prenatal Diagnosis of Northern California. He supervises the genetic counselors, directs the operation of the laboratory, and provides most of the clinical services. In his absence, several highly respected reproductive geneticists and perinatologists are available.
Patients coming to the office for an amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS) procedure, or those who are considering testing options, first meet with a genetic counselor. Genetic counselors are also available to meet with patients who have a previous or family history of a birth defect or hereditary condition. Ultrasound measurements and the initial fetal anatomy survey are performed by one of our certified ultrasound technologists. These sonographers specialize in fetal ultrasound. Dr. Hershey or his physician associates reviews all ultrasound examinations.
