After long years of studying and traveling in Patagonia, Dr. Rodolfo Werner Kinkelin and Rodolfo Peluffo founded Tierra Patagonia in 2002.
Dr. Rodolfo Werner Kinkelin
Dr. Rodolfo Werner Kinkelin was born in Argentina and devoted many years of his career as a biologist to the study and conservation of Patagonian wildlife. Following the steps of his grandfather Horacio "Boy" Kinkelin (poet and explorer), he participated in many expeditions to the Patagonian Andes at a young age. Later on, as a scientist, he conducted extensive research on marine mammals of Patagonia. He graduated as a biologist at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), obtained a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Munich (Germany) and conducted postdoctoral work at the University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada). One of his research projects studied the diving behaviour and behavioral ecology of southern sea lions (Otaria flavescens) off the Patagonian coast.
As part of his professional career as a wildlife conservationist, Rodolfo has spent many years living and working in different countries of Europe and North America. He collaborated with prestigious international research and nature conservation agencies such as the German Research Council, Patagonian National Research Center (Puerto Madryn, Argentina), National Science and Engineering Research Council (Canada), World Wildlife Fund, Wildlife Conservation Society (The New York Zoological Society), Toronto Zoo (Canada), Vancouver Aquarium (Canada), the University of California (Santa Cruz, USA) and the Max-Planck Institute for Behavioral Physiology (Seewiesen, Germany). He is fluent in Spanish, English and German. Currently he is based in Madrid, Spain. From here he, together with Rodolfo Peluffo (based in Buenos Aires, Argentina), coordinates Tierra Patagonia.

Rodolfo Peluffo is a successful Argentinean businessman who knows very well the value of hard work and perseverance in order to achieve professional success. Driven by his restless spirit, he is always in the search of new projects and experiences. His passion for Patagonia encouraged him to join Rodolfo Werner Kinkelin in this endeavor. Without a doubt, his major contributions to Tierra Patagonia are his natural talents as a group leader and his solid experience in project development. Rodolfo Peluffo is currently based in Buenos Aires and is the representative of Tierra Patagonia in Argentina. He will join us in some of our trips across Patagonia.
