Church History

This congregation is part of the restoration movement within the church of Jesus Christ which for over two centuries has pleaded for the unity of all God's people in the one Body. We are not the only Christians, we are Christians only. GracePointe Christian Church was founded in 1985 by twenty charter members. The church was planned and started with the support of East 91st Christian Church through the ministry of Mother-Daughter Church Planting. The church became totally self-supporting in 1988, and the first service was held at the current site on East 96th Street in 1991.

GracePointe Christian Church is not ruled by a regional or state conference, synod, or diocese; but led by men and women with faith and the Holy Spirit as a congregationally governed church.

The ministry accomplished in Jesus' Name has grown to include small group Bible Studies (L.I.F.E. groups), community service projects, support of campus ministries, foreign missionaries, and emergency disaster relief services. There are many more familiar and fascinating ministries ongoing at GracePointe Christian Church. There is a place for you.

Our past is glorious, our future even greater as we exalt the Lord Jesus and spread the Good News. You are invited to join in on something exciting and fulfilling. Welcome!
