NuLaserFrequently Asked Questions

QuestionWhen should I consider upgrading my printer?
Answer
  • Because printers wear out eventually; it may be time to upgrade when the cost of the repair approaches the cost of a new machine.
  • ERROR MSGIf your printer is operating at maximum speed, and you frequently have to wait for the volume of pages you need to produce, then upgrading to a faster printer would contribute to the efficiency of your operations.
  • As your business changes, you may develop printing needs that your current printer simply can't handle - color, high resolution, odd paper sizes, full-bleed capability, etc. That's when it's time to upgrade.

QuestionERROR MSGDo toner cartridges have a shelf life beyond which their performance deteriorates?
AnswerIdeally, you should use a toner cartridge within six to nine months of unpacking it. Over time, the rubber parts inside cartridges can dry out and harden, causing the cartridge to fail or produce poor print quality. If you're not using a cartridge, be certain to store it at room temperature in its original packaging, which will seal it from humidity, light, and dust. Properly wrapped and cared for toner cartridges have a shelf life of approximately two years.

QuestionMy printer sometimes indicates that the paper tray is empty when it's not. Why does this happen?
AnswerYour printer has a sensor that is supposed to detect when the paper tray is empty. There may be dust accumulation affecting the sensor perceptions. Use your manual to locate this sensor and use either a vacuum or a can of air to clean the dust from it. If the problem persists, your printer's circuit board may have a cracked trace or the sensor may be dead and in need of replacement.

QuestionERROR MSGIs it true that if you use recycled toner cartridges in a new printer that the manufacturer's warranty would be voided?
AnswerAbsolutely not. Laws barring restraint of trade prohibit manufacturers from requiring that you use only their cartridges in their printers. If you are using cartridges that meet OEM specifications for your printer, regardless who makes them; the manufacturer must honor the warranty they sold with your machine.
