I discovered Fredrick Fowler Hair Design after having bought a wig at another business. I was about to have chemo therapy and I went into a panic. I went to a place that told me I would get a custom made wig, and it 

When they cut it, it didnt have any shape. It looked like I was wearing a really thick, bulky, hair hat. I  was embarrassed to be seen in it. Then someone from the cancer agency told me about Fredrick Fowler Hair Design.  Fredrick showed his ability to style wigs when he transformed this bulky wig that was a way too thick into a style that looked very much like my own hair.  I am so grateful to him for doing this. I felt comfortable wearing it and it helped me tremendously to get on with having my chemo  therapy treatments and feeling good about myself in the process. He showed me all of the things that I needed to do to style it and maintain it myself. I was so happy with what he did that I phoned the Cancer Agency and told them that I was delighted with what he had done.

Where I bought the wig originally, they did not give me any instructions how to maintain it. At Fredrick Fowler Hair Design I was even provided with a head form so I could take care of it at home, like he so graciously took the time to show me.

In my estimation Fredrick Fowler is one of the most talented hair cutters that Ive seen in the business. Ive been a hair dresser for about twenty years. I love doing hair. Its in both sides of my family and we all say that it is in our blood. Many of the hair stylists of our family and a lot of friends that we have meet at hair shows were doing a very important show. We were all watching Fredrick Fowler at a time when our demonstrations had finished and we had some time to go out and enjoy the rest of the show. We sat spell bound  as he took fairly ordinary wigs and turned them into master pieces before our eyes. To take a pair of scissors and so confidently start snipping away at hair that will never ever grow back just blew our minds. He took what seemed to be boring bob hair styles that were about a little bit longer than shoulder length and slide cut, texturize, layer, then he took some of them back stage and did things with steam, and curling Irons that in all of my years I would never have dreamed of doing. 

When it  came time for the finale he took one wig and for the final part of his demonstration he did about twenty different styles on the same wig The last style that he did was an up do for a very formal evening event. All the while he had his model cloaked under a full length cape. When he was finished he had them dim the lights, the music started and he took the cape off of his model and the crowd gave him a standing ovation as his model walked down the runway there wasnt a person in the whole place whose eyes werent fixed on this unbelievable  look. Her Wig that he had done up had fiber optics woven through and the out fit was sort of a retro flapper look. Her hair, the out fit everything lit up with fiber optics. I later found out that he had designed the whole thing himself. Ive seen him so some pretty amazing things at shows before but this one brought the house down.

Alopecia Testimonial

I met Fredrick Fowler when he came to our Alopecia group. Alopecia is a medical condition that makes your hair fall out. Alopecia is Latin for Baldness and it has no known cause or cure. When you are ten years old and living in foreign  country, you want to blend in as much as possible, with the other kids. Well when all of your hair falls out along with all of your eye lashes and eye brows, children start making fun of you and saying that you look like an alien, its hard. Its very very hard. In fact I spent about a year crying my heart out; Praying that my hair would come back. It didnt!

Fredrick came to our group, not to promote himself, but to understand fully all of the psychological aspects of what we were going through. The next meeting he came to he brought a pair of scissors and some of what he calls texturizing shears and he asked for a volunteer  who thought that their wig was too thick. Well a lady put up her hand and he started to cut her hair. She kept looking at the floor and saying are you sure that much needs to come out? He smiled confidently and said, if you are unhappy with the results I will get you the best wig that money can buy. She said with that kind of confidence how could she go wrong. When he was finished she said you know I had tried wigs that were worth thousands of dollars, and the person that cut them in and styled them made them look so heavy and artificial, and the style seemed to be something that my Grandmother would have loved. After his demonstration of what one could do with a wig  in terms of styling it, we all realized what a master he was. I ordered a custom made wig and it was the best one, up until that time that Id ever had.

He has since, designed wigs for me that are so comfortable and so contemporary, that suite my life style, that I will forever be grateful. Having Medically related hair loss, used to be very stressful for me. Knowing that I have someone in my life like Fredrick Fowler is a comfort and a joy. He is  kind, sensitive  and wise. His salon offers me the privacy that I want. He makes me laugh a lot, and his herbal tea selection is great.

The first time I went to Fredrick Fowler Hair Design, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they gave me a consultation complete. Truly they care about you walking out the door with a look that is fabulous, and one that you like, as opposed to : what they like, and intimidating you into liking.

Ive been to so many different salons and have even written articles for fashion magazines and it always seemed like the person about to do my hair had already decided what I was going to get, before the scissors even touched my hair. They would start out with some line like tr-r-r-u-u-u-st  me, I am the professional. I know what would look good on you. I appreciated that they knew what they thought would look good on me, but shouldnt they give you a hint as to what they were about to do to my hair? Wouldnt it have been nice to discuss with me what my life was like and how much time I would like to spend on styling my hair?

I think that the days of the huge Salon that you could land a small plane in the entrance are over, thank goodness. Also gone are the days when the impersonal receptionist would start the intimidation tactics at the door when you arrived; and make you  feel that you were lucky to be in this place of very important stylists whose feelings had better not be hurt, even though you (the client) were spend a considerable amount of money, should not question any of the things that were about to happen to your head; never mind things that you wouldnt be seen in public with until it had grown in.

The staff at Fredrick Fowler Hair Design are extremely professional and yet they do all that is possible to make you at home. In fact I mentioned several times that it feels more relaxing than my own home.

Fredrick knows a great deal about good health, and he practices what he preaches.

I fly back and forth   from the U.S. on business. I discovered Fredrick Fowler before he opened his business in Vancouver. I was recommended to him by a friend of mine who is a pilot.

He went to one of Fredricks businesses back east in Toronto. He said the thing that most impressed him about Fredrick, was that he took the time to give him a full half hour consultation  on his first visit; to get to know the likes and dislikes that he had regarding past experiences with his visits to a hair stylist. Because I am a busy person, I dont have time to be constantly fussing with a hair dryer and a curling iron. I told him I have a life, and I am a low maintenance  kind of woman.

He sat down and sketched a few shapes that he thought would work for me and I never looked back. That was several years ago, and hes given me several updates to keep current with whats in style, but he always holds true to our agreement that If I want to get married, it wont be to a curling iron. It is a red, that is a sort of mahogany and I wanted to look like it occurred in nature, unlike some of the colours that Ive had done to me that when people are searching for their Ray Ban sunglasses, you know that maybe its a tad too bright!

We looked at a bunch of colours before they did it and then we looked at the colours that I wore in my make up and clothes. They took a cue for the brightness factor from several things that we discussed. I never knew there were so many different shades of red. The most important thing is my hair looks good in every different type of light. From my bathroom light at home to the middle of the day bright sun shine it looks so natural.

I just wanted to write you a note to tell you how pleased I am with my new hair that you custom tailored to me. Thank you so much for spending all of that time with me. I really appreciate the time that you spend explaining to me, all of the different types of bases. Its no wonder to me that it takes someone years to become an expert in this field. Having gone to other places, where I did some comparison shopping, I notice one thing across the boards.  I could tell when I asked them questions about the making of the hair systems that they would pause, and then they seemed to be making up an answer that would satisfy me. Really all they seemed to be doing was answering the questions with other questions. When I asked them about the knotting technique of the hairs that were about to be put into the new hair system, many of them would ask is that what you want? If so thats what we do.

I really felt that I need guidance in deciding the right  hair system and how much money I should spend, and they generally would lead me back to what they seemed to want verses what would be best for me. It seems as though Ive tried hundreds of different hair stylists, and before I went to Fredrick Fowler hair Design, there were very few hair cuts that I could really say that I thought were fantastic. Well after I was given an opportunity to explain all of the things that I loved about a hair cut that was my favorite up until then, there were notes taken and diagrams made. This was a first for this to happen. When they were finished, and I was shown a mirror and why it suited my features I was quite happy. Then I went to work and my secretary and about five people in the office commented on how much they liked my hair.

After the third day I received a follow up call from Fredrick Fowler himself, to see if I liked my cut and to se if I was having any styling problems and the last question was could I duplicate the look myself. I was sold. From that point on Ive been a very loyal customer and I think I must have recommended about thirty, happy customers to Fredrick Fowler Hair Design. My Husband, bought me a gift Certificate to Fredrick Fowler Hair Design for Christmas this year and I thought that I would just share some of my feelings about how well I treated.

I noticed that they had a web site so I thought I would like to write a letter and tell people if they can please me... they are doing pretty well!

First of all let me tell you that my husband usually calls me Our Lady of the Hair Brushjust to give you an idea of how important my hair is to me. Ive flown all over the world and have had my hair done in several different cities. He had heard about Fredrick Fowler Hair Design from one of his colleagues that works in his brokerage firm. She places a lot of importance to her hair so after doing some research, he decided to buy me a gift certificate. I was treated to dimensional hair colouring and to a cut and conditioning treatment. I felt very pampered. The best thing was that they went through all of the steps for me to style my hair at home and get the same look. That impressed me a lot. Nothing is worse than having your hair done and you leave feeling like a queen, then when you try to do it your self you look like the bride of a smurf. The worst part of not being able to get the same style that you walked out of the salon with is usually they make it look so easy that you are sure that you can do it and at the last minute you go to do it and oh my, guess I should have paid a little more attention.

"Several visits later he was working on some wigs for a film shoot... "

My life was somewhat drab, so I asked a friend of mine to recommend a good hair stylist to me, so she introduced me to Fredrick Fowler. Fredrick consulted with me on my first visit. I walked out of the salon feeling pretty happy with my hair. I was surprised to get a phone call from him about a week later to see how I liked my hair and whether I was able to duplicate the hair style that he had given me. I thanked him for the call because I was having a bit of a problem with the front of my hair. He booked me in for an appointment to show me how to style the front part of my hair. He placed the dryer in my hands and had me blow dry it, and then showed me some of the sections that I was having difficulties with. I went out feeling confident about my new styling abilities and several of my friends commented about how they liked my hair. Several visits later he was working on some wigs for a film shoot and I jokingly said to him do I need a wig, for a change.

He tried some different styles on me and by the time he was through I decided that I wanted two of the wigs that he showed me. I love them. It offers me some totally different looks, and I realize that many of the styles that are walking down the fashion runways are in fact, well styled wigs.
